Spaying & Neutering
There are many benefits to spaying and neutering your pet that go beyond pet population control. Studies have shown that spaying a female drastically decreases the risk of developing breast cancer and uterine infections later in life. Likewise, neutering a male will eliminate testicular cancer and greatly decreases the risk of prostatic and other reproductive-tract related diseases. It will also help to reduce certain unwanted behaviours such as aggression, urine marking, and the urge to escape the yard to find a mate!
Our veterinarians will work with you and your pet to determine the best age at which the spay/neuter should be performed, and the safest anesthetic options for you and your pet. We will also discuss with you what to expect on the day of the procedure, and going forward. |
